Deadline broke the news that Disney/LucasFilm canceled The Acolyte after only one eight-episode season. According to the numbers in Deadline’s article, 11.1 viewers watched the premiere in its first week. However, the show dropped off the Nielsen top 10 streaming shows for the rest of its season until the finale. The finale saw the lowest for any Star Wars series in history.
3:00 – The Biggest Debut of 2024?
The series was touted as the biggest debut of 2024. However, More people watched Ahsoka last year, and that show cost far less to produce than The Acolyte. When a single episode costs more than Godzilla Minus One, which won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects, it better have enough of an audience to justify its expense. In the end, while it is sad to hear about people losing their jobs, the show was just bad.
