DC finally released a trailer for the upcoming animated series Batman: Caped Crusader.
This looks like a period piece and a return to the noir roots of the character, like how Bob Kane originally conceived the character. The bad guys have Tommy guns and the cars look to be from the 1940s. The first voice heard sounds like an homage to the legendary Paul Fries.
Hamish Linklater (The New Adventures of Old Christine, The Crazy Ones) voices Bruce Wayne and Batman, Christina Ricci voices Catwoman, Diedrich Bader, who voiced Bats in Batman: The Brave and the Bold, takes on the role of Harvey Dent, while Jamie Chung (Big Hero 6: The Series) plays Harley Quinn.
Batman: Caped Crusader is produced by Bruce Timm, who helped create the legendary Batman: The Animated Series in the 1990s. The Batman director Matt Reeves co-produces along with JJ Abrams. It was originally developed for HBOMax, but was canceled during the WB/Discovery merger. Amazon picked up the show last year, and it’s set to debut on August 1st on Amazon Prime.
