This week, Geekville Radio’s Examining The Doctor goes all the way back to the beginning, and looks at the very first episode of Doctor Who. Join Mark and Seth as they provide commentary for An Unearthly Child, first broadcast on November 23, 1963. This is the episode that started it all, and introduced us to The Doctor and The TARDIS.
Unlike most episodes of Examining The Doctor, this show will only look at An Unearthly Child itself, and not the remaining three episodes in the story arc. And to be specific this is the regular episode as broadcast, and not the unaired pilot.

Marvel dropped a surprise final trailer for the upcoming Netflix Iron Fist series. We finally get to see Danny Rand’s live action look. Seth and Crazy Train are back to dissect the trailer, and give thoughts on what we can expect for the first season.
In case you weren’t one of the four million (and counting) views, check the trailer out for yourself below
In other Marvel news, we got a behind the scenes look at the now filming Avengers: Infinity War. Not only do we get glimpses of concept art and words from Kevin Feige, we get Robert Downey Jr., Tom Holland, and Chris Pratt side by side in the same room. Plus, we got official confirmation that Rocket Raccoon will be in the movie as well.
In the latter half of the show, Seth and Train talk the departure of Peter Capaldi from Doctor Who using a list of potential successors published by Digital Spy. Who does an admitted non-Whovian think would be a good Thirteenth Doctor? Some of Train’s selections might surprise you. This is a discussion far more suited for the casual Doctor Who fans than the discussion Seth and Mark had over at Examining The Doctor.
In the final segment of the show, Seth flies solo to give a quick review of The Lego Batman. Does it live up to the expectations set by the original Lego Movie?
What are your thoughts on these subjects? We’d like to hear from you below.
Examining The Doctor returns to examine The Return Of Doctor Mysterio! In addition to the usual commentary, Mark and Seth discuss the recently announced departure of Peter Capaldi from the series. Who can step into the TARDIS as The Thirteenth Doctor? And what can we expect from the final Capaldi season.
It’s been a long but fun ride as we close out The Power Of The Daleks. Mark returns to help Seth give his knowledge and insight for this animated adaption of the long lost Doctor Who classic.
Recently released on DVD and Blu-Ray, The Power Of The Daleks is an animated reconstruction of the first Patrick Troughton story originally broadcast in 1967. It aired only once in The UK, and was one of the casualties of a massive film erasing measure by The BBC in the early 1970s. Fortunately, the audio still exists and the animated reconstruction was commissioned by The BBC.
Join Mark and Seth as they bring their signature blend of historical knowledge and humor into Part Six of The Power Of The Daleks!
It’s the penultimate episode of the long lost Doctor Who story The Power Of The Daleks! Seth flies his TARDIS solo to provide commentary on the animated adaption. In this episode, Bragan assumes control of the colony while The Daleks continue to organize their extermination of all humans.
This commentary will work for both the black and white and colorized version of the episode, so do not worry about which version you need to watch.
It’s a news packed week at The Geekville Radio Studio. Seth and Crazy Train are back to cover the major stories, as well as the return of the Arrowverse to TV.
“The still untitled X-Men TV series will focus on two ordinary parents who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive. The series will be produced by 20th Century Fox Television and Marvel Television, with 20th Century Fox handling physical production.”
“There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions. Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.”
Over in the Doctor Who universe, Peter Capaldi confirmed that Series 10 of the revived show will be his last.
The middle part of the show reviews the mid-season return of the entire “Arrowverse”. Supergirl, Flash, Legends Of Tomorrow, and Arrow all made their premieres last week, and all four shows hit the ground running. Hear thoughts on Kevin Smith’s Supergirl directorial debut, Flash’s next chapter about changing the future, Legends Of Tomorrow with George Lucas, and the reveal of Laurel and Talia in Arrow.
In the final segment of the show, Seth and Train pay tribute to the legendary actor Sir John Hurt. The resume this man had fills just about any element of Geekery you could imagine.
All this and more in another fun-filled episode of Geekville Radio!
The hopes and/or fears of Doctor Who fans worldwide have now been realized. Peter Capaldi is stepping out of The TARDIS for the final time at the end of 2017.
Capaldi himself confirmed his decision to leave on an episode of Jo Whiley’s BBC 2 Radio Show.
“I feel sad. I love Doctor Who. It’s a fantastic program to work on, and it’s been a huge pleasure to work with a family. I can’t praise the people I’ve worked with more highly.”
Peter Capaldi was first announced as The Twelfth Doctor at a live BBC television announcement in August of 2013. He made a very brief cameo in the 50th Anniversary special “Day Of The Doctor” before taking over The TARDIS from Matt Smith in the 2013 Christmas Special “Time Of The Doctor”.
Series 10 of Doctor Who premieres April 15th. Pearl Mackie will join the cast as Bill, while Matt Lucas will return as Nardole. The season will also be the last for showrunner Stephen Moffat, who will step down and hand the show over to incoming producer Chris Chibnall
This week’s Geekville Radio gives you a Star Wars fix AND a Doctor Who fix in the same episode. Episode VIII now has the official title The Last Jedi. What does this title mean? And what could this lead to with Luke and Rey? Seth flies solo to address these thoughts.
In the main part of the show, Seth and Mark from Examining The Doctor are joined by Jason Hunt and Paul Gann from Talking Timelords. Together they discuss the recently released animated adaption of Doctor Who Power Of The Daleks. It’s the first time this story has been seen in 50 years. But with four Doctor Who geeks, the conversation does frequently bounce about to all aspects of Doctor Who.
If you’re a Doctor Who fan, this episode is for you!
Part Four of Doctor Who And The Power Of The Daleks is here! Join Mark and Seth as they provide commentary for this recently adapted for animation lost classic. This week, Polly has gone missing while Ben and The Doctor learn more about the mysterious Rebels. Also Dr. Lesterson begins to learn the truth of the Dalek presence.
This commentary will work for both the black and white and colorized version of the episode, so do not worry about which version you need to watch.

This week’s Examining The Doctor brings us to the halfway point of The Power Of The Daleks. This story aired exactly once in the Fall of 1966, and was never repeated in England. It was also one of the casualties of the BBC wiping its film library in the early 1970s.
Join Mark and Seth as they bring their signature style of knowledge and humor to this animated adaption of the lost Patrick Troughton classic, The Power Of The Daleks.
