SPOILER WARNING! The following contains slight spoilers for Daredevil: Born Again, Episode 2! Do not proceed if you wish to avoid spoilers!
MAJOR POINTS
- White Tiger is in prison for accidentally killing an undercover cop
- The Fisks are now Heather’s clients
- Matt killed two corrupt cops
Fisk addresses New York on New Year’s Day and promises to clean up New York and take down vigilantes. He meets Daniel Blake, who becomes his aide as he takes unorthodox steps to better his image, such as telling construction workers to finish filling a pothole even though no permit has been issued. Fisk and Vanessa also seek marriage counseling from Heather.
Meanwhile, Hector Alaya (aka White Tiger) accidentally kills an undercover cop as he tries to stop an apparent mugging. Matt talks to Alaya in prison. He believes Alaya is telling the truth when he says he saw a mugging, even though no other witnesses say they saw a victim. Later, Cherry learns that Alaya is the vigilante White Tiger, which makes things far more complicated for Matt. However, Matt learns Nicky Torres is the guy getting beaten up by the cops. Thus, he is the only one who could testify on Alaya’s behalf.
Matt convinces Torres to flee. When the cops come in and find Torres gone, they assault Matt and try to kill him. Matt snaps and kills both, screaming out in anger as the show episode ends.
MAJOR QUESTIONS
- Who are the corrupt cops working for?
- Why were they assaulting Torres?
- How long before Heather learns Matt is Daredevil?
OVERALL GRADE: B
This is a solid second episode. I know some are complaining that we’re not seeing Matt in the Daredevil suit. I am fine with that since we have a reason why he isn’t. We all know it’s only a matter of time before he’s dragged back into full-time crimefighting.
