Hector Alaya is on trial for murder. Only one witness can testify on his behalf. Can Matt Murdock save The White Tiger’s alter ego? Or will corruption win in the end?

SPOILER WARNING! The following contains slight spoilers for Daredevil: Born Again, Episode 3! Do not proceed if you wish to avoid spoilers!

MAJOR POINTS

  • Hector was acquitted of the murder charges, but he was outed as The White Tiger
  • Fisk vows to take care of this vigilante
  • White Tiger was shot to death, possibly by The Punisher

Matt and Hector discuss the case in prison. Matt promises Hector that he will see his family again. Later, in the courtroom, Matt questions Officer Powell, the surviving cop from the incident with Hector. He mentions Nicky Torres as a possible witness who can acquit Hector since Powell claims no other people were present at the time of the incident.

Cherry tracks down Torres and gets him to the courtroom to testify on Hector’s behalf. However, at the last minute, Torres testifies that he stayed at home all day, thus destroying the defense’s case. Matt changes tactics and reveals that Hector is the vigilante, the White Tiger. He then brings in multiple people previously saved by White Tiger to testify about his character. This is enough to acquit Hector.

Elsewhere, Fisk tells BB that he will keep his anti-vigilante promise to the people of New York. Hector suits up as White Tiger once more but is quickly gunned down by a shadowy figure dressed similarly to The Punisher.

MAJOR QUESTIONS

  • Was that really The Punisher who killed White Tiger? And if so is he doing it for Fisk?
  • Why were the cops roughing up Torres in the first place?
  • Are these cops with skull tattoos affiliated with Punisher?

OVERALL GRADE: B-

Courtroom dramas can be hit and miss. Fortunately, this one was more the former. It was sad to see Hector win his case only to be killed moments later. Especially when we know the actor himself passed away shortly after. I’m assuming that was not Frank who killed him because the thought of Frank working with Kingpin is preposterous.
