0:50 – Godzilla stomps into comics
2025 is definitely the year for Godzilla fans! Big G just celebrated 70 years on the big screen. But now he is making a massive return to comics. Godzilla will be featured in comics by not one, not two, but THREE separate comic companies. The two powerhouse publishers Marvel and DC will have their own limited series while IDW will forge their own continuity with several ongoing books.
DC uses Godzilla as he appears in Legendary Pictures’s Monsterverse, while Marvel has gotten permission directly from Toho. IDW may be different because they are doing their own “Zillaverse.
The official Godzilla Page posted the following along with more artwork.
Get ready for capes and kaiju to collide once again as the biggest names in the DC Comics universe face off against Godzilla and Legendary’s Titans. As announced at New York Comic Con’s Jim Lee & Friends panel, Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong 2 is on the way to comic shops and online in the summer of 2025.
The sequel to 2023’s Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong by writer Brian Buccellato (Injustice) and artist Christian Duce (Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point), Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong 2 will feature the return of its creative lineup for the entire miniseries.
The sequel will take place in Legendary’s Monsterverse and include appearances by King Ghidorah, Rodan, and Mothra. DC reports that Suicide Squad character Killer Croc will transform into a kaiju in the story, and that Skull Island will be a a key location in the miniseries.
As for Marvel, their press release says several one-shots will build to a big limited series where Godzilla takes on the major Marvel heroes in a grand finale crossover event.
Hitting stands this March, Ryan North and John Romita Jr.’s ‘Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four’ #1 is the first of six one-shots where Marvel heroes battle the King of the Monsters across different eras!
Last year, Marvel Comics and Toho International, the Japanese studio’s U.S.-based subsidiary that has brought global sensation Godzilla to life, began an exciting new collaboration that resulted in a hit Godzilla variant cover program and long-awaited reprints and collections of Godzilla’s original Marvel comic series.
Announced last week with The Hollywood Reporter, this incredible partnership evolves in March as Godzilla enters the Marvel Universe in groundbreaking new comics, beginning with six action-packed one-shots that pit Marvel heroes against Godzilla in breathtaking battles, each set in different eras of Godzilla and Marvel Comics. The one-shots will pave the way for an epic Godzilla and Marvel limited series, launching this summer. The GODZILLA VS. one-shots mix Godzilla lore with the Marvel mythos, twisting history as icons like the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Hulk, the X-Men and Thor face off against the King of the Monsters!
Last, but certainly not least, IDW’s press release touts an all-new take by presenting their own Godzilla continuity that doesn’t adhere to any previous incarnation.
“This FCBD issue will introduce readers to new characters, premiere new Kaiju, and serve as the launching point for our new Godzilla continuity,” stated GODZILLA line editor Jake Williams. “We challenged ourselves to build up a world around Godzilla that is as interesting as the King of the Monsters itself. A new continuity filled to the brim with super powered humans, kaiju half breeds, stories across Earth and Space, and a fresh new take on Godzilla itself. All in service of one singular goal: tell Godzilla stories that can only exist on the pages of a comic book. Big, bold, bizarre – and above all, cool as hell.”
12:45 – Skeleton Crew Episode 4
It seems like all of these “At” planets were once nearly identical, right down to the same cities and layouts. Then, over time, their inhabitants’ behavior destined them to different societies. The main thing I want to see next is whether these other planets are also war-torn, or if they look entirely different from what we’ve seen. My hunch is that each planet will have a unique environment. After all, that is something Lucas himself did in his movies.
I also think the “supervisor” is aware of the other planets, if not directly overseeing all of them, and the “great work” may have something to do with studying the development of each planet. Again, that sounds like something more like Star Trek or even Doctor Who than it does Star Wars. But we’ll have to wait and see.
