DC Fandome unveiled the first trailer for HBO Max’s Peacemaker series. John Cena reprises the role of the title character after appearing in this Summer’s hit film The Suicide Squad.
The series looks to be a follow-up to the film. Also returning are Steve Agee as John Economos and Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt. Danielle Brooks joins the cast as Leota Adebayom an original character created for the series. Freddie Stroma stars as Vigilante/Adrian Chase while Robert Patrick plays Peacemaker’s father.
As expected, Gunn’s signature humor and over-the-top characters are all over the trailer. Peacemaker drives a Mercury Comet decked out like the American flag and wins the affection of a bald eagle (‘MURICA!).
Another aspect present in Gunn’s work is the featuring of more obscure characters. This time around, Gunn uses DC’s vigilante hero called (creatively enough) Vigilante. In the comics, Adrian Chase is a District Attorney by day and the masked Vigilante. Previous seasons of CW’s Arrow had Chase and Vigilante but depicted them as separate characters.
Peacemaker premieres on HBO Max January 13th, 2022.
