SPOILER WARNING! The following contains slight spoilers for Skeleton Crew Episode 6! Do not proceed if you wish to avoid spoilers!

MAJOR POINTS

  • The pirates captured Jod but he convinced them to go to At Attin
  • The kids escaped Skull Mountain and are also on their way to At Attin
  • We learned KB’s cybernetic implants were the result of an accident

The kids slide down a shaft hidden beneath a trap door and find themselves outside Skull Mountain. KB’s cybernetics short out, rendering her temporarily immobile, but she still memorized the coordinates to At Attin. Fern and Wimm split up because they can’t agree on a plan to get to the ship.

Meanwhile, at the Pirate base, Brutus sentences Jod to death. However, Jod convinces the pirates to at least travel to At Attin first, promising that the riches they’d find will prove him right.

The kids stumble through their separate paths, including Wimm and KB fleeing from a giant crab. They meet up at the ship, which is about to be crushed in a junkyard. They manage to free the ship by jettisoning its armor and fly off into space.

MAJOR QUESTIONs

  • Who will make it to At Attin first?
  • Will the New Republic find out about At Attin?

FINAL GRADE: B+

This episode had both action and character-driven dialog, which is a winning combination when done well. We learned more about KB and how her augmentations were used on her to save her life from some form of accident in the past. Leaving the episode with both sides heading to At Attin is a great cliffhanger because we don’t know who will arrive first.

The crab creatures are a perfect addition to the endless species in Star Wars. A familiar overall shape that still looks very alien. They were done via old-school stop-motion photography and not the common CGI that gets overused these days.

These last two episodes have a great setup for a thrilling finish. Here’s to hoping it stays the course.
