THE MAIN CHARACTERS
Several key characters for Crisis were created by Wolfman and Perez a few years prior. They appeared alongside many of the classic DC characters throughout the story. Many of the existing characters are already established in CW’s Arrowverse, while others will be introduced or revamped into an already established one.
Monitor: The Monitor can be compared to Marvel’s character The Watcher. He is a cosmic being who monitors the worlds in the Multiverse. Likewise, he can travel between them, seemingly at will. While the limits of his powers have never truly been defined in the comics, he is depicted as a god-like character made of purely positive matter. The Monitor has already made appearances in the Arrowverse and is portrayed by actor LaMonica Garrett.
Anti-Monitor: As the name implies, Anti-Monitor is the opposite of Monitor and is made of negative matter. He serves as the main antagonist for the story and has the ability to destroy entire worlds. At the beginning of the story, he is not in a physical form. He uses his Shadow Demons to do his bidding. As for the TV crossover, LaMonica Garrett will also be portraying Anti-Monitor
Harbinger: Fans who have only watched the Arrowverse shows may not recognize Harbinger, but they will definitely recognize her identity. Her real name is Lyla Michaels and she serves as Monitor’s herald. She can create clones of herself to travel to different Earths and recruit heroes and villains to the cause. While we may not see Audrey Marie Anderson’s Arrowverse Lyla have superpowers, we will probably see multiple versions of Lyla as Harbinger in other Earths.
Pariah: An alien scientist who, through experiments intended to research the creation of the universe, inadvertently brings about the attention of Anti-Monitor. Consequently, he helplessly witnesses the destruction of several Earths. For the TV adaption, Pariah will be another variation of Harrison Wells portrayed by Tom Cavanagh.
Earth 1 Superman: Not much can be said about Superman that isn’t already commonly known. Earth 1 Superman is also frequently referred to as “Pre-Crisis Superman” by fans. This will most likely be the Tyler Hoechlin Supes the Arrowverse fans are familiar with.
Earth 2 Superman: Superman from Earth 2 is the original Superman depicted in comics during the mid-20th-Century. It is worth noting the slight differences between the two Supermen. Earth 2 Superman’s real name is Kal-L, while Earth 1’s was named Kal-El. After the separate worlds were established, Earth 2 Superman was depicted with gray hair on his temples. As far as the TV adaption goes, this looks to be the part played by Brandon Routh’s Kingdom Come Superman.
Earth 3 Alexander Luthor Jr.: Not to be confused with his more famous namesake, this Luthor is a hero from Earth 3. He is the son of Lex Sr. and Lois Lane-Luthor and winds up being one of the few characters to survive Crisis with the memory of what actually happened. In a teaser trailer, Jon Cryer can be seen standing alongside the heroes. Thus, Jon Cryer will likely return to play this heroic version of Lex. Though it’s worth mentioning TV’s Earth 3 is the Golden Age Earth, so this Luthor may come from a new, previously unseen Earth.
Earth 1 Flash: Much like his TV counterpart, Barry Allen is one of the major characters in Crisis. A fitting role, given he was the first character to discover other Earths in the first place. Barry famously dies in the Middle Act of the comic story by running himself to death to stop Anti-Monitor. On TV, Barry’s fate in Crisis has literally been hinted at since the very first episode of The Flash.
Earth 1 Lex Luthor: It wouldn’t be a major DC Comics event without Lex Luthor getting involved. It would not be surprising to see Jon Cryer do double-duty as evil Lex. But don’t rule out the possibility of Katie McGrath’s Lena Luthor to play this part.
Psycho Pirate: Not the first villain that may roll off your tongue when it comes to DC. But he plays an important role in his ability to control other people’s emotions. The Arrowverse incarnation already showed up in last year’s Elseworlds crossover.
The Spectre: One of DC’s more powerful characters, Spectre’s power is near omnipotent. He is crucial to the story given he is one of the few characters powerful enough to confront Anti-Monitor. He will be played by actor Stephen Lobo in the TV adaption
Superboy Prime: A version of Clark Kent from the “real” Earth. Like Earth 3 Luthor and Earth 2 Superman, Superboy Prime manages to survive Crisis with his memory intact.
