Omega and Crosshair are on the run while Hunter and Wrecker search for them. Who will find whom? And will all the surviving team members reunite in their own show? It’s time to find out!
SPOILER WARNING! The following contains spoilers for The Bad Batch Season 3 Episode 4! Do not proceed if you wish to avoid spoilers!
MAJOR POINTS
- Crosshair and Omega reunited with Hunter and Wrecker
- The Empire is in full on manhunt mode to find Omega
Except for two very brief scenes used as bookends, the entire story takes place on a planet called Lau, where Crosshair and Omega have to work together to survive.
It begins in media res with Omega and Crosshair dropping out of hyperspace and crash landing on Lau. It almost looked like the scales on Godzilla’s back. With no money and no clearance codes, the two are sitting ducks if they are seen by The Empire. The pairing of Omega and Crosshair is the perfect trope of the mismatched duo. All Crosshair knows is running and shooting, while Omega prefers less violent means. She also wants to help everybody they can, including the clones held prisoner on Tantiss, while Crosshair’s only concern is escaping certain doom.
Crosshair reluctantly goes along with Omega’s plan, which involves playing cards at a local cantina to win enough credits to buy passage off planet. Omega is no stranger to gambling since she won tons of money for Cid in the previous season. It goes well until an Imperial Captain named Mann, who looks like Axl Rose and sounds like Mike Meyers, shows up and challenges her. While she does win, Mann still charges her with a fine for gambling. Not only that, but he also takes Batcher with him when he leaves. Omega and Crosshair sneak through the town to rescue the hound. Unfortunately, Mann is also there and reveals that Hemlock is on his way.
With all other options exhausted, Omega finally concedes they have to fight their way out. Crosshair lays down cover fie while Omega unleashes all the caged animals, who trample many of the Stormtroopers. Mann himself gets grabbed by a tentacle and pulled inside a huge container, where he is presumably devoured, possibly by a rathtar. Crosshair, Omega, and Batcher steal a cargo freighter and blast off into space.
The three land on an unnamed planet and are finally reunited with Hunter and Wrecker. Of course, the two are thrilled to see Omega, but not so much Crosshair.
MAJOR QUESTIONS
- Will Hunter and Wrecker accept Crosshair back?
- How close behind is Hemlock?
- Will Nala be executed? Tortured?
FINAL GRADE: B-
This season has done very well, with each episode feeling like a chapter of a season long story, rather than the three or four part stories we saw during The Clone Wars. It’s also pretty safe to assume Omega will vouch for Crosshair to get him back on the team. That said, it’s likely he will still need to earn back the team’s trust.
We still haven’t seen Echo or Rex. Once the team is fully together, could we see ANOTHER Clone War? This one in the form of a clone uprising?
