Netflix released its first trailer for the original animated series Transformers: War For Cybertron Trilogy. The first series is titled Siege and looks to be another retelling of the Autobot/Decepticon war.
As with most versions of Transformers over the years, the story involves Decepticons being the dominant force on the planet Cybertron. The Autobots are on the verge of defeat, but Optimus Prime presses on in the face of certain doom. It also looks like it will depict Decepticon leader Megatron with his retconned ability to transform into a tank instead of a gun.
Alas, it does not appear that fan-favorite actors Peter Cullen and Frank Welker will be reprising their roles of Optimus Prime and Megatron respectively. But with such a great history of both in the past few decades of Transformers lore, I think we can forgive handing off the roles to other voices.
Showrunner FJ DeSanto has a long history with animated Transformers series. He wrote the previous few series, including Combiner Wars and Power Of The Primes
